Their life of PISTONS & POSES

Blisters, perverts and jealous girlfriends - it's all in a day's work forthese car show import models

THEY have to suffer 'weirdos' and rude fans who ogle, grope and shamelessly take close-up photographs of their crotch and chest areas.

They often get only three hours of sleep between exhausting shows, and sometimes none at all.

And they nurse blisters after being on their stilettoed feet for eight hours straight, running back and forth between booths and signing autograph after autograph.

Being an import model isn't just about standing around in a barely-there bikini and looking like you just stepped out of the pages of a men's magazine.

Although they are very good at it, for sure.

During our photoshoot with the hottest import models from the popular touring US car show Hot Import Nights, sultry poses and come-hither glances came naturally.

KT So is the only pure Chinese in the group - she was born and raised in Hong Kong and moved to Los Angeles when she was 15.

The rest - Jeri Lee, Helen Su, Lisa Kim Fleming, Nikita Esco, Sunisa Kim, Natalia Marie and Jenny Chu - are Pan-Asian.

BIG BUCKS

They are all celebrities in the motoring industry, earning huge salaries and attracting large international fan bases.

In the flesh, they are a titillating vision of fake eyelashes, long tousled locks, body glitter, tanned skin and bosoms that threaten to pop out of their colourful tops.

The gorgeous American octet is in town for the mega-motorshow Super Import Nights Singapore 2007, which is organised by Three Angles Production. It will be held at Singapore Expo Hall 5 from today till Sunday.

Each of the girls is paid up to US$1,500 (S$2,200) a day to further boost testosterone levels at the event, which will also showcase souped-up rides and car accessories, drifting demonstrations, live DJ sessions and plenty of rubber-burning automotive action.

Aged between 19 and 24 and boasting mostly C-cup assets and hourglass figures, the eight girls are already acquainted, having worked the same car show circuit for years. But it's the first time they're travelling together as a group.

During the interview, they came across as close friends, cheerfully teasing each other with their bawdy sense of humour.

Chinese-Hawaiian model-dancer Helen told The New Paper: 'We've all got along, we're like sisters, family, we work together.'

It's their first time in Singapore, but fans have already dropped off gifts at their hotel.

But they insist their life is no joyride.

They have to battle misconceptions about the work they do, especially since they have to toe the line between sexy and skanky.

WRONG IDEA

Said KT, who is planning to return to university to pursue a degree in biochemistry: 'I really hate how narrow-minded, judgmental people assume certain things just because of my profession.

'They think because I pose in certain outfits - or lack of them - I must be doing 'private sessions'.'

Petite Filipino-Mexican model-dancer- actress Jeri said jokingly: 'Sometimes we could look like sluts and hookers but we get paid for it. So what? I'm comfortable with my body. People can judge us, I don't care.'

Natalia, who has Filipino, French and Norwegian blood and is going to study to be a nurse, added: 'We respect ourselves and we're proud of what we do and who we are. We know our limits and we draw the line. It's not like we're hooking up with guys at the car shows.'

She also cannot stand jealous girlfriends who shoot dagger stares or snarky remarks at them.

She said: 'Ladies, if you take your man to the show and if he's eyeing us, do not get mad at us. It's not our fault. We do not want your man, believe us.'

These aren't the only low points of their seemingly glamorous lifestyle.

Top on the list is having to deal with 'bad fans' who treat them like 'pieces of meat'.

And as expected, there will always be sleazy propositions thrown their way, like men offering to pay the girls to go out with them.

Natalia revealed huffily: 'There are some guys who take pictures of us but zoom straight at our crotches or tops. I think it's very disrespectful and rude. I'd rather not talk to them and tell them they can't take the picture, but they get mad and start calling me names.'

Their biggest pet peeve? Touchy-feely guys.

Jeri indignantly recounted an incident at a Las Vegas show. A man reached out and moved her hair, which was covering her chest, so he could get a clearer view of her D-cups.

She said: 'I was like 'Excuse me, don't you touch me!' If I want to show, I'll show. You don't tell me what to do or how to pose.'

Natalia also recalled in horror how a photographer 'with crust on his lips' blatantly kissed her cheek.

'I was so grossed out, I ran to bathroom, washed my face with anti-bacterial soap and had to redo my make up!'

The girls agreed that they love fans who treat them respectfully - and bring them chocolates.

Korean-Caucasian babe Lisa, who's working in events promotion, said: 'It's so cute when the really shy types go back and forth in front of the booth - that's when you want to pull them over.'

Although being an import model looks deceptively easy, it's actually physically demanding.

According to the girls, the long hours and lack of sleep have been 'harsh' on their bodies, and they often fall sick and eat unhealthily.

Yet, they still have to 'put on a good face and a good attitude' and please the crowd.

They are promoting themselves as brand names as much as the cars, so any unprofessional behaviour will be bad for their image.

'We socialise a lot during these shows and we always have to be full of energy,' said Natalia.

Helen added: 'To be honest, there are tons of beautiful girls, so I really think the most important thing is having the personality to go with it.'

i think import models are hot! some girls go too far...like posing nude etc...i dont know how they expect to get a decent job when they are 30 with nude photos taken of them..or of them scantily clad. for instace, kt-so in this article states she wants to go back to pursue biochemistry...but with her photoshoots and image..even if she were to succeed in obtaining her degree, it would be very hard to find a company to look past the image.
