A fire in the evening hours of Saturday destroyed a home in Kahului, displacing four people, according to the Maui Fire Department.
Crews received the call at 6:04 p.m. Saturday of a structure fire at Onehee Ave., Kahului. Engine 1 from Wailuku; Engine 10, Rescue; a battalion chief and a fire investigator responded to the fire, which was extinguished by 8:43 p.m.
Crews arrived to find the structure well involved with fire. Hose lines were pulled to extinguish the fire and protect neighboring exposures. Fire personnel searched the interior of the home to confirm that all occupants had evacuated the building. The cause of fire is undetermined, but remains under investigation.
One adult and 1 child were injured and transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center. The fire displaced four residents and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
