Two Idaho robotics teams compete at First Robotics National Championship in Houston

Two student-led robotics teams from Idaho are in Houston this weekend to battle it out against 600 other teams from across the nation for the title of First Robotics National Champions.

The Buhl High School "Buhlean Operators" (pictured below) and the Teton High School "Coded Summit" won Idaho Regionals and punched their ticket to the national competition in Houston, Texas.

These teams worked for months building and coding their robot from the ground up.

Programming their robot to compete in this years' task, called Charged Up.

It works by two alliances of three teams competing to score cubes and cones into their grid to charge up their community.

Teams get extra points if their robots are docked or engage with their charge stations.

For the first 15 seconds of gameplay, robots are autonomous, then the teams can step in and take charge.

The competition runs through the 22nd, and CBS 2 will keep you updated on how they do.
